Living in a Canadian home is an important part of the international student experience. The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) partners with the Canada Homestay Network (CHN), a trusted homestay provider, to ensure our students are placed in safe, caring, and welcoming homes across our communities.
What is Homestay?
Homestay means living with a Canadian family during your studies. This provides students with:
- A safe and supportive home environment
- Daily opportunities to practice English
- An introduction to Canadian culture and traditions
- A sense of belonging in the community
About the Canada Homestay Network
CHN carefully screens all host families to make sure they provide a positive and safe experience. Families are selected based on their ability to:

- Support students with daily routines and adjustment to life in Canada
- Welcome students into family activities and community life
Benefits of Homestay
