Academic Year Program
The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) welcomes international students to study in Ontario for either one semester or a full academic year. Our Academic Year Program offers high-quality education, caring teachers, and meaningful cultural experiences that prepare students for future success.
Program Length Options
- Full Academic Year (September–June)
Students complete two semesters of study and take part in the full range of school events, extracurricular activities, and seasonal experiences.
- One Semester (September–January or February–June)
Students may attend for a single semester, focusing on academics and cultural immersion while earning Ontario Secondary School credits.
Academic Opportunities
International students are fully integrated into our schools and learn alongside Canadian classmates. They have the opportunity to:
- Earn Ontario Secondary School credits, which may count toward graduation in their home country or the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) if completing multiple years of study.
- Select from a wide variety of courses, including English, mathematics, science, social studies, arts, and technology.
- Receive support through English as a Second Language (ESL) programs to help develop language skills and confidence.
